Aces Tattoo Plans Flash Fundraiser to Support Albuquerque CSVANW

On October 31st, Artists at Aces Tattoo in Albuquerque will be holding a Tattoo flash event to raise funds for CSVANW.  Our artists Bianca Sanchez, David Torres, and Flowerhead are working on original designs that clients will be able to choose from and have tattooed for a flat rate.  Half of all proceeds generated at this event will be donated directly to CSVANW to support their valuable work in the community.

Our shop is always looking for opportunities to give back using our artistic talents.  Past projects we have organized or been involved in have supported Agora Crisis Center, A Light In the Night Community Outreach, and Albuquerque Public School art programs, among others. We encourage those reading this to look up Art Fusion for a Cause, a group we work with a few times a year that consists mostly of tattooers doing live art to raise money for local charities.  Keep an eye on our social media to find out about future tattoo flash fundraisers, too.

Aces is proud to show our support for CSVANW during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Flowerhead says, “My mom taught me to offer my time and energy to support those in need.  She was always doing volunteer work, often for our local rape crisis center and women’s shelter.  I want to carry on that work supporting my fellow women, as well as gender non-conforming people.  When I realized how disproportionately domestic violence impacts Native women in particular, I was driven to find ways to help more directly.  I met an amazing queer/non-binary artist earlier this year who recently did a benefit show for CSVANW and prompted me to look further into it.  Their name is Freyr, you can check out their work on instagram under @f.a.m.works. Seeing the work being done by CSVANW I wanted to offer help in my own way. I see this as part of caring for our community and working towards equity.”

Tattoo designs available for the event will be posted on the Aces Facebook page, and clients will be able to schedule appointments in advance to secure a spot.  Walk-ins will be taken day-of as long as we have availability.  We’re also looking at having coalition members at Aces that day to share some information about the organization.  We hope to not only generate funds, but also raise awareness and promote the work of CSVANW to people who may not know about it.
