#CSVANWTeam crossed the Resilience Run 2016 finish line! by Jana Pfeiffer
With the weather just right, #CSVANWTeam crossed the Resilience Run 2016 finish line excitedly! Running along with community members is CSVANW’s vision for healthy Native people and bringing awareness to stopping violence!
The running path trailed through Albuquerque’s North Valley neighborhood right next to an irrigation canal. It had rained the night before and the humidity was a little heavy in the morning air. The starting line was filled with energetic runners and with some cute kids dressed like their parents!
I truly enjoyed the significance of the run and how metaphorically, we presently are still running for strength and healing. I felt empowered by the collectiveness of the runners and crossing the finish line in support of one another! Supporting the remembrance of the Pueblo Revolt but also remembering that each Nation has their own story of resistance. I thought about CSVANW’s resistances to violence in our Tribal community.
We must continue to bring awareness about eliminating violence against our Native women and children! I’m looking forward CSVANW 1st Annual run #iwillRUNforher! Stay tuned to see #CSVANWteam together again!
